According to reports, Community, GMB, and Unite, the three major unions in the UK have launched a joint campaign, calling for the British government to use domestically produced steel in investment projects and infrastructure design projects after the outbreak of the COVID-19 epidemic to help UK steel Industry recovery.

Since the UK steel industry played a very important role in the country's economy, the government's assistance in revitalizing steel demand can ensure economic recovery and guarantee UK employment.

The UK steel industry has 32,000 employees, and the steel produced is mainly supplied to the automotive, engineering, and construction industries.

The three trade unions also warned that the shutdown of the blast furnace might cause millions of pounds of loss.
