JSW Steel, an India-headquartered steel manufacturer with a global presence in 140 countries, is building a fleet of shallow draft vessels.
The Indian Register of Shipping (IR class) recently classed three 8000 DWT general cargo vessels for JSW Shipping & Logistics based in India.
It is the first step of the fleet expansion for which an order for construction of 14 vessels with 8000 DWT was placed. Ten were to be constructed at Wuhu Shipyard in China and four at the Cochin Shipyard in India. Now, the three units built at Wuhu Shipyard have arrived in India and have been put into service.
