According to Emirates Global Aluminium (EGA), the output at its Al Taweelah alumina refinery has exceeded its monthly nameplate capacity for three months in a row.

Alumina refineries in other regions will need three years or even more to reach the achievement compared to the operations in the past ten years; however, Al Taweelah alumina refinery reached the goal after its 21-month operation despite the COVID-19 epidemic.

Al Taweelah alumina refinery has an annual nameplate capacity of around 2 million tons, which can fulfill 40% of EGA’s demand for alumina and have a significant impact on the economy in the UAE aluminum industry.
