Alcoa completes acquisition of Alumina Limited

Alcoa Corp., a leading aluminum producer in the US, has successfully completed the acquisition of Alumina Limited, which will further strengthen Alcoa’s market leadership as a pure upstream aluminum company and one of the world's largest producers of bauxite and alumina.

With the acquisition, Alcoa World Alumina and Chemicals (AWAC), a joint venture between Alcoa and Alumina, is now fully owned and controlled by Alcoa. Alcoa previously held a 60% stake in AWAC.

AWAC comprises several affiliated entities that own, operate, or hold interests in bauxite mines and alumina refineries in Australia, Brazil, Spain, Saudi Arabia, and Guinea. Besides, AWAC also has a 55% stake in an aluminum smelter in Victoria, Australia.
