Alcoa Corp., a leading aluminum producer in the US, said it supports Russia’s aluminum giant RUSAL’s proposal last week that the London Metal Exchange (LME) should provide market participants with monthly reports of the origin of all registered aluminum and other metal stocks in worldwide LME-approved warehouses.

Alcoa said that the current important issue is to ensure to increase the market visibility of Russia’s aluminum, which will allow the LME and market participants to carefully monitor the situation.

The LME said last week that it was considering the format of monthly reports that it would release and would work to ensure the format could meet the needs of all stakeholders.
