Alcoa will halt the primary aluminum production at its Spanish plant, the second-largest aluminum plant in Europe, for two years. The decision was due to the recent surge in energy prices in Europe.

Energy costs hit a record high last week, which pressured the heavy industries in the financial segment.

It was reported that Aluminium Dunkerque Industries France, one of the major aluminum smelters in Europe, also announced its production cuts earlier in December.
