Alcoa, a Pittsburgh aluminum maker, claimed on June 17 saying it will begin the process to lay off workers at its plant in San Ciprián, Spain.

According to Alcoa, the layoff conversation has been undergoing since May and they said it’s due to the significant and unsustainable situation at the plant.

Although this move will cause over 500 workers to lose their jobs, Alcoa promised to not restructure the plant until the required consultations are concluded.
