Alubar, a Quebec-based aluminum rod producer in Bécancour, initially announced its closure on Monday. The decision was made due to the US imposition of 25% tariffs on Canadian aluminum and steel, which the United Steelworkers said would result in the loss of 70 jobs.

However, following discussions with the union on Tuesday, Alubar reversed its decision and announced a resumption of operations starting Wednesday, saying the temporary shutdown was to maintain its equipment.
