An industry expert said that aluminum smelters in China’s Yunnan province resumed smelting due to improved power supply policies. The policies were expected to make annual output recover to about 500,000 tons.

According to the source, the aluminum industry will receive an additional 800,000 kilowatt-hours (kWh) of power from the grid operator, which will further accelerate their operations.

In November last year, smelters in the region were required to stop operations and reduce production due to reduced hydropower supplies during the dry season.
