According to Antaike, a Chinese state-owned research firm, China’s aluminum consumption is growing rapidly. The aluminum consumption in China was expected to be 38.5 million tons in 2020, 1.15 million tons higher than the previous estimate, which will create a short supply of 50,000 tons in the Chinese aluminum market.

By the end of this year, China's primary aluminum production capacity was predicted to reach 42.63 million tons per year, a year-on-year increase of 3.1%; the annual operating capacity will be roughly 39.3 million tons, a year-on-year increase of 9%.

Among them, Yunnan and Sichuan provinces contributed new production capacity during the period, accounting for 85% of the total.
