Australia’s Rio Tinto, a leading global mining group, signed a multi-year agreement to supply direct reduction iron ore pellets (DR pellets) from its Iron Ore Company of Canada (IOC) to H2 Green Steel.

Apart from that, the two companies signed another contract that Rio Tinto would purchase and resell a part of the surplus low-carbon hot briquetted iron (HBI) produced by H2 Green Steel during the increase of its steelmaking capacity.

H2 Green Steel's first integrated, digitalized, and circular plant was expected to be put into operation in 2025. The plant will adopt green hydrogen instead of coal, which would reduce CO2 emissions by up to 95%.
