According to data from the World Steel Association (worldsteel), in April, the steel production from Austrian enterprises increased by 6.5% month on month but decreased by 0.8% year on year to about 651,000 tons.

In the first four months of this year, Austrian steel output amounted to 2.48 million tons, decreasing by 6.3% from the corresponding period of last year.

At the beginning of 2023, the apparent steel demand and product prices started to increase. Also, the energy cost decreased to be stable, so the EU's steel manufacturers started to restart their idled capacity.
