Board of Vedanta approves expansion plan at Balco

The Board of Vedanta, a mining company in India, has approved the expansion plan of its Bharat Aluminium Company (Balco) at a meeting on October 28.

The revised cost of this project was Rs 595 crore. The expansion will increase Balco's rolling capacity from the existing 5,000 tons per year to 18,000 tons per year. With the completion of this project, Balco will enter the high-premium product filed.

Besides, another Rs 8,094 crore will be invested in the expansion of the Balco smelter’s capacity, from the existing capacity of 58,000 tons per year to 99,400 tons per year. This investment is subject to government approval.
