According to statistics, Brazil exported around 763,100 tons of alumina in January this year, which slid by 17.2% compared to the same month a year ago, mainly due to a sharp decrease in shipments at the Port of Belem, which was used by Hydro's Alunorte alumina refinery.

During the period, the operating income of alumina exports was US$213.2 million, based on FOB prices, a year-on-year reduction of 21.1%.
