Brazil raised the duty-free import quota for primary aluminum from 262,000 tons to 288,000 tons on July 27, valid until the end of the year. However, market participants thought that the increase was insufficient to meet demand. The original quota of 262,000 tons has been used up.

According to statistics, as of July 9, Brazil had imported around 258,500 tons of primary aluminum, and the remaining quota will be exhausted in a few days.

Without duty-free import quotas, both the newly imported primary aluminum and products stored in the bonded warehouse will be levied tariffs.
