Brazil's crude steel production falls in Feb

In February, Brazil's crude steel production reached 2.5 million tons, down by 9.1% compared to the preceding month, according to statistics from Brazil Steel Institute (Instituto Aço Brasil, IABr).

The domestic sales of steel products slid by 7.2% to 1.5 million tons, and the exports increased by 10% to 1.1 million tons, both compared to the previous month.

The apparent consumption of steel products decreased by nearly 10% month on month to 1.8 million tons, and the imports fell by 13.8% to 325,000 tons.

In the first two months of this year, Brazil's crude steel production decreased by 5.8% year on year to 5.3 million tons.
