According to data from the Central Bank of Chile, Chile, the world's leading exporter of copper, posted its export income of copper of US$3.879 billion in February, surging by 65% compared to the same month a year ago.

The sharp increase was mainly because the international copper prices soared to the 10-year high, surpassing US$9,000/ton for the first time since 2011, as the global economic recovery started to raise the demand for copper.

Besides, the increase in copper export also drove Chile’s February export to grow by 41% year on year to around US$7.07 billion, with a trade surplus of roughly US$1.52 billion.
