According to statistics, the total shipment of hot-rolled and medium-thick steel plates from India’s major steel companies reached around 7.11 million tons in 2020, surging by 31.2% compared to the previous year.

Among them, Vietnam was the largest importer of Indian steel plates, with around 2.74 million tons, a year-on-year increase of 5%.

After the epidemic blockade was ended, Indian steel mills significantly decreased the export volume while raising the domestic sales prices due to limited supply and high demand.

Indian steel mills will shift their sales focus to the domestic market, which will restrict their exports.
