According to statistics, China’s stainless steel exports totaled 379,700 tons in March this year, up by 34.8% compared to the previous month and also increasing by 23.07% from the same month a year ago.

Meanwhile, China imported a total of around 240,000 tons of stainless steel, a month-on-month drop of 24.1% and a year-on-year hike of 33.9%.

The imports exceeded exports in February. After a month, China returned to net exporter of stainless steel, mainly due to the decrease in stainless steel imports from Indonesia in March, which was down by 89,000 tons from February.

In the first quarter of this year, China’s stainless steel exports amounted to roughly 1.06 million tons, a year-on-year increase of nearly 22%. The total imports were roughly 952,000 tons, up by 70.13% year on year.
