China’s National Food and Strategic Reserves Administration said in a statement that the first batch of aluminum will start on July 5 at a bidding platform, with a total volume of 50,000 tons.

The bidding is only available to aluminum processing and manufacturing enterprises, and aluminum purchased from the platform should be used for production and it isn’t allowed to be resold or hoarded.

China’s National Development and Reform Commission (NDRC) said earlier this month that the action to release national reserves of aluminum, copper, and zinc was to stabilize commodity prices.
