China’s aluminum bar production amounted to around 1.48 million tons in April, hiking by 3.8% compared to the previous month and by 24.4% from the same month a year ago.

As of the May Day holiday, the stock of aluminum bars in factories totaled 88,600 tons, an increase of 18,000 tons compared to early April. Market participants said both social inventory and factory inventory had certain accumulation due to a slowdown in stocking up.

In April, China's aluminum bar production capacity increased to more than 60%. Despite oversupply resulting from the weak demand, China’s mills had no plan to cut production or suspend operation, but maintain a cautious attitude.
