According to statistics, China exported around 26,400 tons of primary aluminum in February this year, which hit the highest monthly volume since 2010.

However, the imports plummeted in the first two months of this year, causing China to become a net exporter in February for the first time since November 2019, compared to a trading pattern that China imported a lot of primary aluminum from 2020 to 2021 because the domestic production was hart to meet demand.

As high power prices limited the metal production in Europe, the London Metal Exchange (LME) prices and physical premiums surged, and such tight supply was also stimulating China to export more semi-finished products to Western markets.
