China’s Baoshan Iron & Steel (Baosteel) denies Japan’s Nippon Steel’s allegations on a patent lawsuit with a claim for compensation of JPY20 billion. Baosteel said that it had asked to contact Nippon Steel but was rejected.

Nippon Steel filed a lawsuit on October 14 with the Tokyo District Court, claiming that its patent related to non-oriented electrical steel sheets had been infringed by Baosteel and automobile maker Toyota and seeking an injury compensatory of JPY20 billion, which should be equally shared by Baosteel and Toyota.
