China’s Baoshan Iron & Steel (Baosteel) increased its new prices for January. The prices of the main products such as hot-rolled and cold-rolled steel were hiked by CNY200/ton and CNY150/ton respectively.

According to the price adjustment, the base prices of heavy plate, hot-rolled steel, cold-rolled steel, pickled steel, hot-dip galvanized, low aluminum zinc aluminum magnesium, galvalume, high aluminum zinc aluminum magnesium, medium aluminum zinc aluminum magnesium, color-coated steel, non-oriented silicon steel, and oriented silicon steel were hiked between CNY50/ton and CNY400/ton.

The demand is improved gradually in the Asian market. Recently, the quotations for local imported hot-rolled products also rose steadily, but the domestic demand in Vietnam is still weak.

Affected by Baosteel's new prices up, Vietnam's Formosa Ha Tinh Steel might consider increasing prices for February.
