China's crude steel & pig iron output increases in Aug

According to statistics released by the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) of China, China's crude steel output totaled around 86.4 million tons in August, growing by 3.2% from the same month a year ago. The output of pig iron was 74.6 million tons, up by 4.8% year on year. Steel production was 116.5 million tons, a year-on-year increase of 11.4%.

In the first eight months of this year, China's crude steel and pig iron production amounted to approximately 712.9 million tons and 603.6 million tons, up by 2.6% and 3.7% year on year, respectively. Steel output was up by 6.3% year on year to 909.2 million tons.
