China’s crude steel production rises in Aug

According to statistics released by the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) of China, China’s production of crude steel totaled 83.9 million tons in August this year, rising by 3% compared to the previous month and by 0.5% from the same month a year ago.

During the period, China’s production of pig iron and finished steel was 71.4 million tons and 108.3 million tons, registering a month-on-month increase of 1.3% and 1.97% and a year-on-year drop of 0.5% and 1.5%, respectively.

In the first eight months of this year, China’s production of crude steel amounted to approximately 884.7 million tons, down by 5.7% year on year. The output of pig iron and finished steel was down by 4.1% and 4.3% year on year, reaching 582.2 million tons and 884.7 million tons, respectively.
