China’s primary aluminum imports surge in Nov

According to customs statistics, China’s imports of primary aluminum totaled around 194,000 tons in November this year, falling by 10.3% compared to the preceding month and surging by 75.6% from the same month a year ago. Among them, imports from Russia accounted for the largest proportion, totaling roughly 107,000 tons, down by 24.4% month on month and soaring by 91% year on year.

During the period, China exported a total of around 22,000 tons of primary aluminum, a month-on-month jump of 3462% and a year-on-year hike of 812%.

In the first 11 months of this year, China’s primary aluminum imports amounted to about 1.37 million tons, rising significantly by 153% year on year. Exports were 195,000 tons, falling by 31% year on year.

China’s net import volume of primary aluminum in November was up by 59% year on year to around 172,000 tons, and the cumulative net import volume in the January-November period surged by 257% year on year to roughly 1.23 million tons.
