According to statistics from the General Administration of Customs of China, China’s stainless steel exports totaled around 394,000 tons in November, hiking by 23.9% from the previous month and also increasing by 13.3% from the same month a year ago. The net export volume during the period was roughly 156,000 tons, a month-on-month increase of 180.5% and a year-on-year hike of 48.5%.

Amid the shortage of containers, the growth in China’s stainless steel exports reflected the weak demand in the domestic market. Besides, due to competitive prices, China’s stainless steel was exported to foreign countries.

In November, China’s ferronickel imports amounted to 290,000 tons, down by 3% month on month and by 25% year on year. Among them, Indonesia was still the largest supplier, with a total of 231,000 tons of ferronickel.
