China’s stainless steel exports significantly increase y-o-y in Dec 2024

China's customs data showed that China’s stainless steel exports in December last year reached 465,700 tons, up by 6.01% from the preceding month and significantly rising by 38.8% compared to the same month a year ago, continuing to grow for two consecutive months.

Meanwhile, imports increased to 142,300 tons, a month-on-month hike of 9.26% and a year-on-year drop of 46.9%.

In 2024, total exports amounted to 5.04 million tons, up by 2.9% year on year, while imports fell by 9.33% year on year to 1.88 million tons.

The full-year net stainless steel exports in China soared by 53.23% year on year to 3.17 million tons, showing an oversupply in the domestic market.
