China’s stainless steel imports were 292,900 tons in November, which rose by 22.6% from the same period last year but down by 6.2% from October.

The most imports were from Indonesia totaling 232,000 tons, up by 24.52% year on year but down by 13.12% from October. The imports from Indonesia dropped to 73% as a major domestic stainless steelmaker cut its production in November. The imported volume in December was expected to be about the same as the November level.

The stainless steel exports from China were 478,9000 tons in November, rising by 2% from the same period last year and by 28% from the previous month.

India just canceled the expert tariffs on some stainless steel products on November 19, which might become pressure on China’s stainless steel exports.
