China’s stainless steel imports fall in Jul

According to statistics from the Stainless Steel Branch of China Special Steel Enterprises Association, China’s stainless steel exports totaled around 416,000 tons in July this year, falling by 15.1% compared to the preceding month while rising by 1.45% from the same month a year ago.
In terms of imports, the volume reached roughly 178,000 tons in July, a month-on-month decrease of 34.2% and a year-on-year drop of 19.1%.
Among them, Indonesia was the major import source during the period, with a total volume of 140,000 tons, down by 36.4% month on month and by 17.7% year on year.
In the first seven months of this year, China’s stainless steel imports amounted to 1.86 million tons, hiking by 14.4% year on year. The imports from Indonesia accounted for 1.56 million tons, a year-on-year increase of 31.3%.
