China's stainless steel production rises in 2020

According to statistics from the Stainless Steel Branch of China Special Steel Enterprises Association, the production of crude stainless steel in China amounted to around 30.14 million tons in 2020, growing by 2.51% compared to the previous year.

Among them, the output of Cr-Ni stainless steel (300 series) had a year-on-year increase of 6.58% to around 14.38 million tons, accounting for 47.71% of the total; that of Cr stainless steel (400 series) had a year-on-year increase of 7.68% to around 5.93 million tons, accounting for 19.66%; that of Cr-Mn stainless steel (200 series) had a year-on-year decrease of 5.68% to around 9.64 million tons, accounting for 32%; that of duplex stainless steel had a year-on-year increase of 5.8% to roughly 191,000 tons.

In 2020, China's apparent consumption of stainless steel reached approximately 25.61 million tons, a year-on-year increase of 6.46%.
