China's steel exports to the EU fell from January to September this year compared to the same period a year ago.

Since 2016, China's steel exports to the EU have continued to decline, especially since the EU implemented a series of safeguard measures in 2018, the export volume fell to 2.09 million tons in 2020.

Affected by the conflict between Russia and Ukraine, the EU's steel supply was insufficient in 2021 and 2022. China's total steel exports to the EU rebounded during the period.

Even so, the amount of steel exported to the EU only accounted for 5.8% of China's total steel exports that year, and only accounted for 8.0% of the EU's total steel imports.

In the first nine months of this year, China exported around 2.9 million tons of steel to the EU with a year-on-year decrease of 7.3%.
