China’s Tianshan Aluminum to build new aluminum oxide plant in Indonesia

Tianshan Aluminum Group, a China-based aluminum company, will build an aluminum oxide plant in the Riau Islands, Indonesia, with an investment of nearly US$1.6 billion. The new plant, with an annual production capacity of 2 million tons, was expected to increase Tianshan Aluminum’s raw material supply.

The investment in the first-stage construction was US$952 million, with a designed yearly capacity of 1 million tons of aluminum oxide. The construction schedule wasn’t disclosed.

Tianshan Aluminum’s aluminum oxide production totaled more than 1.5 million tons last year, up by 70% year on year. The company aimed to produce 2.5 million tons of aluminum oxide this year.
