China’s wholesale & retail sales of new energy vehicles rise in Aug

According to the China Passenger Car Association, China’s wholesale sales volume of new energy passenger vehicles reached 798,000 units in August, rising by 8.2% compared to the previous month and by 25.6% from the same month a year ago.

In the first eight months of this year, the cumulative wholesale sales volume amounted to around 5.08 million tons, a year-on-year increase of 39%.

In terms of retail sales, the volume reached 716,000 units in July, a month-on-month hike of 12% and a year-on-year growth of 34.5%. The retail sales in the first eight months of the year totaled around 4.44 million units, a year-on-year increase of 36%.

In August, China exported 78,000 new energy passenger vehicles, down by 11.8% month on month and up by 1.7% year on year. The exports accounted for 24% of the total export volume of passenger vehicles.
