Egypt Aluminum (Egyptalum), the largest aluminum producer in Egypt, has recently signed a cooperation agreement with Scatec ASA, a leading renewable energy solutions provider in Norway, to set up a 1 GW solar power plant in Nag Hammadi town in Egypt to power Egyptalum’s production facilities, whose annual production capacity is 320,000 tons.

The solar power plant, with a total generation capacity of 1,000MW, will be constructed in two phases of 500MWh each. The first phase will be completed in 18 months, and the second one is expected to be finished in 24 months.

Egyptalum said that the construction of the solar power plant is in line with its development plan.
