The EU notified relevant industries on December 22 to extend the period of the preliminary anti-dumping (AD) investigation on stainless steel plates from Taiwan and China by another two months, from the original September 25-December 24 to September 25-February 24 next year. The reason for the extension was that additional investigations were necessary.

Prior to this, the EU has initiated an expiry review of the current AD measures on Taiwan and China's stainless steel cold-rolled coils. The review was initiated after the European Steel Association (EUROFER) submitted an application in early May and was expected to be completed by the end of next year.

During the review period, the current 6.8-25.3% AD duty continued to be effective. This review may result in the AD duty being maintained for another 5 years.
