The European Union set provisional tariffs on the imports of aluminum flat-rolled products originating in China as these products were found to be sold at low prices in the EU market.

The tariff rates were set at 19.3% to 46.7%, depending on the exporter.

The imposition of the tariffs was the preliminary result of an investigation launched last August based on a complaint filed by European Aluminium, an industry association representing more than 80 member companies.

The tariffs will come into force today (April 13) for six months and may be extended for five years.
