The European Aluminium Foil Association (EAFA) and Flexible Packaging Europe (FPE) are forming a European alliance to raise the recycling of small aluminum packaging, such as coffee capsules.

Scheduled for an official launch on January 1, 2026, the plan will unite 16 companies from across the value chain. According to EAFA's Executive Director, Guido Aufdemkamp, this cooperation in the value chain is to meet the upcoming Packaging and Packaging Waste Regulation (PPWR) targets.

The alliance will focus on identifying bottlenecks in waste management and conducting studies to improve the continent-wide collection, sorting, and recycling of these formats.
