ArcelorMittal, Europe's largest steel mill, just raised the price of cold-rolled coils and hot-dip galvanized coils by €50-100/ton on August 26. The domestic price of cold-rolled coil and galvanized coil in Europe kept rising because of the rising costs of electricity and natural gas energy.

According to Taiwan's China Steel Corp. (CSC), European and American steel mills have successively announced price increases to reflect costs and avoid losses. CSC is optimistic, but the European steel price is still relatively low.

However, due to low demand from end users and an uncertain market, plus Taiwan's high raw material costs and shipping fees to Europe, Taiwan's galvanized export price is not competitive enough.
