Global crude stainless steel production falls in Q1 2023 y-o-y, China occupies 60.5%

According to statistics released by World Stainless Association, global crude stainless steel production amounted to around 13.67 million tons in the first quarter of this year, falling by 5% compared to the same period a year ago.

Among them, China’s production accounted for 60.5% of the total, reaching 8.27 million tons, a year-on-year increase of 4.1%.

Production in the European region was 1.637 million tons, down by 12%; that in Asia, excluding China and South Korea, was 1.631 million tons, sliding by 16.6%; that in the US was 478,000 tons, falling by 16%, all on a year-on-year basis.
