Global primary aluminum supply has surplus of 400,000 tons in Jan-Apr 2022

According to a report released by the World Bureau of Metal Statistics (WBMS), the global primary aluminum supply had a surplus of 400,000 tons in the first four months of this year, compared to a supply shortage of 1.819 million tons in 2021.

The demand for primary aluminum in the January-April period was 21.9 million tons, falling by 750,000 tons compared to the same period in the previous year.

During the given period, global aluminum production had a year-on-year growth of 0.5%. The global output in April alone was around 5.74 million tons, and the demand totaled approximately 5.68 million tons.
