Guinea is rich in bauxite resources. With the continuously growing global demand for bauxite, Guinea's bauxite mining industry has developed rapidly.

It was forecasted that Guinea's bauxite production capacity would increase by 27.5-28 million tons by 2024, and the capacity had a potential to reach 195 million tons by 2025, making Guinea one of the most important bauxite producers in the world.

However, as production increases, Guinea also faces many challenges. Specifically, the lagging construction of infrastructure has caused transportation inconveniences, which restricted the mining and transportation of bauxite. Environmental problems caused during the mining process need to be effectively solved. Besides, local residents have concerns about the benefit distribution and social impacts brought by the mining development.
