Norwegian aluminum producer Norsk Hydro planned to invest in the expansion of the remelt scrap ingot production project at its plant in Wrexham, UK, in order to raise the recycling capacity of post-consumer aluminum scrap to 103,000 tons per year, thereby providing more low-carbon aluminum to European users.

This project will help Hydro achieve its goal of doubling its recycling of post-consumer scrap by 2025.

The project was expected to need an investment of GBP 25-35 million, and it will create around 30 full-time jobs.

The remelt scrap ingot production in the Wrexham plant will strengthen Hydro’s position in the UK market, and the plant’s range of processing and recycling of post-consumer aluminum scrap will be widened as well.
