Hydro reaches supply agreement with WEVC on low-carbon aluminum extrusions

Hydro Extrusions has inked an agreement with UK start-up automotive company Watt Electric Vehicles (WEVC) to supply recycled, low-carbon aluminum extrusions for its upcoming electric commercial vehicles.

Hydro’s low-carbon aluminum is produced with renewable energy and has a CO2 footprint of 4.0kg per ton. The cooperation will help WEVC reduce the carbon footprint of its eCV1 electric van by 50% and return aluminum to Hydro at the end of the vehicle’s life.

Currently, WEVC has designed a prototype vehicle and plans to start series production in 2025. The company adheres to the concepts of longevity, recyclability, and low carbon, aiming to create fully recyclable vans that can be used for 20 years.
