Norwegian aluminum producer Norsk Hydro will invest EUR 180 million to build a new aluminum recycling plant in Torija, Spain, with an annual production capacity of low-carbon recycled aluminum of 120,000 tons.

The products from the plant will be aluminum extrusion ingots used in major industries in Europe, including transport and automotive, building and construction, renewable energy installations, as well as consumer durable markets.

The construction of this plant was scheduled to start in the second half of 2024, and the production was expected to begin in 2026. The plant will consolidate Hydro’s position in the decarbonization industry by providing more low-carbon aluminum for Europe’s green transition.
