IAI: Global primary aluminum production rises in May

According to statistics released by the International Aluminum Institute (IAI), the global primary aluminum production totaled around 5.74 million tons in May this year, rising by 3.6% from the revised 5.54 million tons in the previous month and also hiking by 5.8% year on year.

The daily production of primary aluminum had a month-on-month increase of 0.27% to 185,300 tons, compared to 175,200 tons in May 2020.

During the same month, China's primary aluminum production hit a new high, reaching around 3.34 million tons, up by 4% month on month and 9% year on year, accounting for 58% of global production.
