According to the International Aluminium Institute (IAI), an investment of approximately US$500 billion to US$1.5 trillion will be needed for the goal of decarburization for the global energy-intensive aluminum industry by 2050.

There are three ways to reduce emissions for the aluminum industry, which are electricity decarbonization, direct emissions reduction, and increases in recycling rate and resource efficiency.

The IAI emphasized that the global aluminum industry must pay more attention to the recycling design of every industry.
