India’s Directorate General of Trade Remedies (DGTR) proposed an imposition of anti-dumping (AD) duties on imports of aluminum foil from China after receiving complaints from domestic producers, including Hindalco, Shyam Sel & Power Ltd., Venkateshwara Electrocast Pvt. Ltd., and Raviraj Foils Ltd.

The recommended duties are in the range of US$619 to US$873 per ton, depending on the specific Chinese manufacturer.

The product involved is aluminum foil up to 80 microns in thickness, excluding aluminum foil below 5.5 microns for non-capacitor applications. The period of investigation was from October 2022 to September 2023.

The Ministry of Finance will be responsible for the issuance of a final determination for DGTR’s recommendation.
