The Indian steel industry was impacted by the spread of coronavirus epidemic and national lockdown, and it was forced to start shipping steel to China, the world's largest steelmaking country.

After the lockdown started in India, Indian steelmakers' steel production was almost zero for the domestic market. However, India got bulk orders from China, South Korea, Japan, the Middle East and Europe.

Separately, JSW Steel's capacity utilization was 38% in April, and most of its products went for export.
